First Visit

We are always excited about meeting new patients during their first visit to our office. Your initial appointment will consist of a thorough examination and a discussion of potential treatment options. This important visit will give us insight into your orthodontic needs. We’ll take photos and may reserve time for diagnostic models of your bite and teeth.

During the initial examination, we encourage your questions and will address some frequently asked questions.

  • Will orthodontics benefit me?
  • Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth has occurred?
  • What type of treatment can I expect?
  • Do any teeth need to be removed?
  • How long will treatment take?
  • How much will it cost?
  • What are my payment options?

While we can often answer these general questions about treatment during the initial examination, we may need to address specific areas after analysis of the diagnostic records.

If that’s the case, we’ll schedule a follow-up consultation visit or phone conference to discuss treatment options, time frames and financial arrangements. We want our patients to have a clear understanding of their specific needs, what the treatment will consist of and cost, and how long it will take.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your first visit:

  • Any panoramic X-ray taken within the past six months. You can ask us to request this from your dentist, if appropriate.
  • If you have orthodontic insurance, please bring your insurance card. By providing this information at the first visit, we’ll be able to give you an estimate of your costs.
